Yesterday it was Nokia, today Samsung unveils a collection of touch-screen smartphones designed to attack one of the hottest markets in technology right now.
The flagship product is the Jet, its name chosen to epitomise speed and which opens the door to a broadside of associated marketing wittering. "...it is the must-have product for those who live fast paced lives and want to pack more of everything into their day," insists the press release.
Samsung is spending £5 million on an ad campaign in July and August themed ‘Impatience is a virtue'. The key hardware features supporting all these speedy claims are the processor, which Samsung says is "super fast" but, apart from stating an applications processor speed of 800MHz, has given us no further details of, and the 3.1 inch AMOLED display.
On the software side there is Samsung's TouchWiz 2.0 user interface and its Dolfin Internet browser. As you can see from the photo and demo video below, it is aimed at the young, trendy user who feels compelled to share their stream-of-consciousness outpourings with the world via Twitter, Facebook, etc.
