Silent night, thin and light

The Taiwanese system builder also had its trendy 13.3", 1.39kg UX30 on display, hoping its stunning brushed aluminium looks might detract attention from its rather paltry four hour battery life and £1,000 price tag.

The pricey PC sports an Intel CULV processor, 4GB DDRII-800 memory, a 500GB hard drive, light sensor technology to auto-adjust screen brightness and an Express Gate feature which apparently allows for boot-up in less than 5 seconds.

Unsurprisingly, Asus was also promoting its all-in-one Eee Top ET2002/ET2203 as a family media centre, with 20" and 22" touch screens respectively and dual Hi-Fi speakers with SRS Surround sound.

The 20" ET2002, priced at £559 is powered by Intel's Atom Duo Core 330 1.6GHz and NVIDIA's Ion chipset with a 250GB SATAII 5400rpm drive, whilst the bigger 22" ET2203 runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz and sports IGP and a 500GB SATAII 5400rpm drive for £819.

Another nice but tad expensive touch from Asus came in the shape of the Eee PC T91, a "tiny touch screen with ‘a twist'," which transforms into a tablet through a swivel of the screen. At just 8.9", the T91 is certainly small enough to be carried around easily and Asus says it has also provided 20GB of free online Eee Storage for its little lap-warmer. Just a shame it costs a whopping £409, though.
