Converging Technologies - Craig 'Dr. T' Barrett - Digital Transformation.

< Everywhere in our lives we use computers, electronic devices, we have seen over the past year a more gradual shift towards to a digital world. Intel believe that there is a strong opportunity to grow within this market. No longer is it just a piece of silicon, it is now the ecosystem development this is where the following quote is appropriate.

"No one person makes a revolution by himself" - Andy Grove

Every business is turning around and noticing the power of IT, and how it can make you more competitive. One of the issues is; wherever you are, whatever you are doing digital technology is making a transient shift to digifi products.

Take Ford for example with the GT car developed 35 years ago, they have now managed to revive and build a new iteration of this car instead of 4 years it previously took, the new GT only took 22 months.A full virtual environment has helped Ford with the development and evaluation of future products prior to even touching the production side of things. Barrett has ordered one so time to ask for that spin :)

The growth of the computing and communication convergence has suffered turbulence and we are now hitting rational growth, unlike the over heated excitement with the dotcom bubble and the like. We are on a substantiated growth period now. Intel are constantly hitting emerging markets with life sciences, sensor networks, genomics, digital animation, content distribution and broadband wireless. All of these would not have been possible without the driving of the silicon and small micron process. However the communication of the new technologies and the way that they will work is something which is important to look at the general public and the knowledge of WiFi already.

Steven Hawkins is powered by 153 Intel CPUs. That is a lot of power Well 152 of them are Itanium 2 CPUs in a SGI cluster. This shows that power is needed and used within everyday industry even if sometimes I suspect that people still go for the ego buying computer (high spec, no needĀ”K.)

The world is changing and being driven by the digital technology, wireless communication has taken off hugely in the past 12 months.

The convergence of technology is something which is important, but the convergence of content is also very important, the delivering of information is essential to the operating of these companies. The silicon is driving these new technologies and they come forward in a certain pattern, but it requires more than just a good bit of silicon.

It is no longer a case of launching silicon like 20 years ago and then letting the market find the place for it. More work is needed now to make a product successful, it has to have a use, and it has to be prepared.
