New Nehalem

Chip giant Intel has previewed a new Xeon server processor, each one of which will have up to eight double threaded cores.

Codenamed ‘Nehalem-EX', Intel  is claiming it represents the highest ever increase in performance from a previous generation processor, just as it did with the Xeon 5500.

This time, Intel's comparing the Nehalem-EX to the Xeon 7400 processor. Here's a slide summarising some of the performance increases Intel is claiming.
