And your point is?
Everyone who's anyone has a Twitter account these days, but judging by much of the material populating the ‘Twitterverse', many people aren't sure why.
As Twitter grows ever more ubiquitous, most businesses are wondering how they can capitalise on this apparently powerful direct marketing tool.
To try to get to the bottom of Twitter from a business perspective, HEXUS.channel spoke to Loic Le Meur (pictured), a French blogger and entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley, whose current project is a desktop client for Twitter called Seesmic Desktop.
Le Meur has been a regular fixture in the media of late. Having been pronounced one of the 25 most influential people on the web by Business Week last year, he featured prominently in a New York Times analysis of the current Internet business paradigm a week ago.
We started by asking him if all this attention is getting to his head. "I've learned to remain cold enough to PR because it's not what makes a company work in the long term," said Le Meur.
Fair enough. To find out what does, we asked him the thinking behind Seesmic Desktop. "It answers a very basic need that people have - to put all their sources of communication in one place."
