A quiet month for product reviews in May was more than compensated for this moth as both NVIDIA and AMD (ATI) released their next generations of GPU. The big surprise was that AMD won the battle for the first time in a while.

A bad situation got worse for NVIDIA as, on top of having to cut the prices of its GPUs, it confessed to a manufacturing problem causing high failure rates on some of its products. Elsewhere, Acer joined the netbook party and AMD got itself a new CEO.
