PCMark Vantage provides a more real-world assessment of the Synapse's capabilities, and the results are very interesting. As shown by the screenshots at the top of the page, the performance of the HDD+Synapse configuration jumps drastically between runs.

By the third repeat run, the Syanpse has cached enough data to churn out speeds well in excess of 100MB/s. We're still some way off a standalone second-gen SandForce SSD, but the Synapse - when paired with a traditional hard disk - clearly offers a good blend of performance and capacity.
