Benchmarks: Noise

Noise is going to be an issue for any system equipped with a pair of GeForce GTX 580s, and Scan's 3XS Cyclone SLI is no exception.

Despite using liquid cooling for its two graphics cards, the high-end machine still incorporates a total of seven fans - two on the chassis, two on the CPU, two on the radiator, and one built into the power supply. The end result is a combination of excellent cooling performance and noisy operation.

The 3XS Cyclone SLI is clearly audible when idle, and noise levels go up from there. Apply a good amount of load and the fans spin up to a mildly-annoying level. It isn't by any means ear-piercing, and extreme users may expect a fair amount of noise leakage, but if you're in the market for a quiet high-end rig the 3XS Cyclone SLI isn't it.
