Notes

The sample motherboard was a pre-production model. That's important to note and we expect Foxconn to eliminate any basic foibles on shipping models.

We've used our tried-and-tested Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 processor for testing on a total of 4 motherboards but with 5 combinations. The Foxconn X38-A supports both DDR2 and DDR3 memories, although, obviously, not concurrently. That's why there's two sets of Foxconn numbers, with the sole difference down to the memory used.

We've added in selected DDR3 results. You'll see just why a full set wasn't run; the benchmark results are just about identical.

So it's X38 up against nForce 680i SLI, and both DDR2- and DDR3-equipped models of Intel's P35 chipset. Let's see how it pans out.
