Conclusion

Averaging 60fps at a 4K resolution while keeping heat and noise in check is testament to how far Nvidia's Maxwell architecture has been able to stretch.

Building on the foundations laid by GeForce GTX 980 Ti, Nvidia's various partners are bringing custom-cooled and factory-overclocked cards to retail with the promise of more speed, lower temps and reduced noise.

Ticking all of those boxes, EVGA's GTX 980 Ti Superclocked+ ACX+ is a card that despite being first out of the gate, won't easily be bettered when the likes of Asus, Gigabyte and others arrive on the scene.

Well built and shipped with a tidy 1,190MHz boost frequency, this premium solution justifies its price point with top-notch performance at extreme resolutions, comfortable under-load temperatures and a level of noise that ranges between deathly silent and barely audible. Averaging 60fps at a 4K resolution while keeping heat and noise in check is testament to how far Nvidia's Maxwell architecture has been able to stretch, and EVGA has maximised those strengths in a single-GPU package that's as accomplished as they come.

So which graphics card should you buy with a budget of around £600? That's a nice dilemma to have, and right now the GTX 980 Ti Superclocked+ ACX+ is a deserving frontrunner with only one foreseeable caveat: AMD's soon-to-be-unleashed Fury. It's worth waiting a few weeks to see how this battle of giants pans out, but one thing's for certain: Nvidia's army of overclocked GTX 980 Tis will take some beating.

i was hoping to see more demanding games like Witcher 3, Assassins Creed Unity,…ones in this article are quite outdated.

Any chance to add more games to the chart?
YazX, we're in the process of refreshing our suite with some new games. Noted your suggestions and we'll see what we can do. :)

GTA V benchmark would be useful too…
Sad to see that my 780Ti has dropped off the testing charts.

You do need to make sure the games are stable wrt performance though - each Witcher 3 patch is having quite an effect on framerate at the moment.
