Total War: Rome II

Homepage: totalwar.com/en_gb/rome2 | Publisher: Sega | Developer: The Creative Assembly

Providing an excellent mix of strategy and action, Total War: Rome II's epic turn-based gameplay can swallow hours of your life.

The second new title in the suite runs a touch better on Radeons than on GeForces. Note that we're using high-quality settings - running ultra or extreme presets renders the game almost unpayable on any GPU.

Per-second examination - R9 270X - 1,920x1,080

The rollercoaster pattern is caused by our benchmark sequence panning and zooming at will. Though not an FPS-type game we'd recommend aiming for an average of at least 40fps for smooth gameplay.

Per-second examination - R9 280X - 2,560x1,440

AMD's Radeon R9 280X provides a better gaming experience than the dearer GeForce GTX 770.
