Power Consumption, Temperature and Noise

AMD's 28nm Cape Verde GPU is known to offer excellent power-draw characteristics, but Sapphire's Vapor-X card doesn't quite convey those architectural benefits. As a result of the factory overclock, the card draws about as much power under load as... yep, you guessed it, the good ol' HD 6850.

Sapphire's Vapor-X cooler usually manages to impress, though, and the HD 7770 variant is no exception. Despite running with a core overclocked by 10 per cent and memory overclocked by 16 per cent, the HD 7770 Vapor-X keeps lovely and cool under load.

Running two fans did have us worried about noise, but there's no problem here - the Vapor-X card is practically inaudible when idle and it keeps suitably quiet under load, too.
