Power consumption

Admirably low power consumption when the systems are sat twiddling their silicon thumbs.

This test, with the GTX 950 in the PCIe slot, measures peak power consumption when the HandBrake benchmark is running. Remember that this is a platform-wide measurement taken at the wall. You certainly don't need a beefy PSU to power these builds. It's clear that quoted TDPs should also be taken with a grain of salt.

A worst-case scenario is running a game that also liberally taxes the CPU. We still see sub-200W for both systems, but the undeniable truth is that Intel's chip is more power efficient.

A word or two on noise. Comparing the retail coolers against one another shows that AMD's newer heatsink is marginally quieter under full CPU load.
