Benchmarks: System
PCMark 8 is used to measure overall system performance, with the 'Home' test including workloads that reflect common tasks for a typical home user. Making things interesting, we've graphed the data in two ways: actual score and score per watt. Traditionally speaking it's the overall benchmark score that has mattered most, but looking ahead, should all consumer CPUs now be measured on a score-per-watt metric?
The benchmark numbers continue to suggest that the Vaio Tap 11's overall performance is up to 35 per cent lower than that of an Intel NUC. Yet it's important to put the results into context. Sony's i5-4210Y-powered tablet feels surprisingly fast in use: it handles Windows 8.1 remarkably well.
We've never felt as though the Vaio Tap 11 was lacking in CPU performance, but the same can't be said for the integrated graphics. Intel's HD 4200 IGP is one of the most basic solutions on offer, and when clocked at up to 850MHz, it delivers mediocre graphics performance, as highlighted by a 3DMark score of 309.
