The above graph shows performance with the chips helped out by a Ā£400 GeForce GTX 680 and, where possible, performance achieved by running 3DMark Vantage via the integrated graphics.

Performance is around six per cent better when compared to a 2500K that's also running the GTX 680. Switch to just the IGPs and the 3570K beats out its familial rival by 125 per cent. Remember that the HD 4000 Graphics IGP is the same as the one found in the 3770K; it's not a slower frequency implementation, per 2500K.

The same methodology is used in 3DMark 11. Here, however, the HD 3000 Graphics for the 2500K and 2700K cannot run the test. Two aspects are clear here. The first is that there's not a huge amount of difference between the various chips with a top-line GTX 680 in the PCIe x16 slot. Secondly, integrated graphics, no matter how advanced, are barely capable of competing with an entry-level discrete GPU, let alone a star performer.
