Despite its size, the performance of the SAPPHIRE HD 7750 Low Profile is the same as other reference AMD HD 7750 implementations. The specially developed single slot cooler, using a ball bearing fan and heatsink design, that doesn’t edge out of the low profile silhouette, keeps performance up to that of regular sized cards at acceptable temperatures. This makes this card an excellent choice for the confines of an HTPC or slim mini-ITX case solution. You get a powerful and modern 28nm AMD GPU in a truly low profile space.
SAPPHIRE say of the card’s performance “As it is based on AMD’s Graphics Core Next architecture, the SAPPHIRE HD 7750 Low Profile model supports all the demands of multi-screen applications, multi-threaded Application Acceleration with stream processing, and fast HDMI support for high resolution and stereoscopic 3D displays. It also supports all the Direct Compute features incorporated in current and next generation operating systems. But with its exclusive low profile cooler, it can achieve all of this in even the slimmest format of consumer or industrial chassis.”
The SAPPHIRE HD 7750 Low Profile has very flexible display output including multi-monitor AMD Eyefinity support. Dual-Link DVI-I, HDMI and Displayport outputs are all available, whichever sized back plate you choose to use with the card. SAPPHIRE achieves this by using mini-DP and micro HDMI sockets and supplying adaptors necessary. These smaller ports on the back plate seem to be the only concessions made for the graphic card’s size but you have the full sized port adaptors in the box supplied by SAPPHIRE alongside the choice of backplates for your computer system.
We have reviewed a few AMD Radeon HD 7750 cards here at HEXUS, including a passively cooled version, good if silence is your thing rather than low profile sizing. The new SAPPHIRE HD 7750 Low Profile card may be great for HTPCs and offer good low power usage characteristics but for general use we found HD 7750 solutions lack punch in modern games.
