Presentation, Bundles and Manuals

Both of the devices we're looking at here come in a similar red box, outlining their major features.

The USB box has the added excitement of a see-through panel showing the main device itself, so you can see just what it is you're buying.

Bundle

The bundles with both of these devices are sparse, but contain all the essentials to get you up and running - Starting with the DTV MagicBox, which contains the USB device itself, USB cable, remote control, two AAA batteries for the remote, quick installation guide and software CD. This CD contains both the software and drivers for the device, as well as a copy of PowerDVD 5.0 as an added bonus. This may not be the latest version of Cyberlink's DVD playback software any more, but it's still my personal software DVD player of choice, so its inclusion is to be commended. The CD also contains a full online manual in PDF format, although to be honest it would have been nice to see a hard copy of this available in the package.

The only real difference to the bundle provided with the PCI-based VisionDTV Mini Ter is the aforementioned inclusion of a USB receiver for the remote control. Aside from that, we find the same package of PCI card itself, alongside a remote control (with batteries), quick installation guide and software CD, again containing the drivers and software as well as PowerDVD.

The online manual is a pretty comprehensive one, which covers all the necessary aspects of using the supplied software to configure and use the devices, as well as covering the hardware installation itself.
