Pocket camcorders have come come a long way since Creative first introduced its Vado series back in May 2008, and the Singapore-based manufacturer of digital entertainment products is hoping to keep up with the competition with a refresh of its Vado HD line.
The second generation Vado HD, launched today, introduces a smaller 4GB model and new Vado Central software offering long-awaited support for Apple's Mac OS X operating system.
The pocket shooter will be available in two flavours - a 4GB model in glossy white with green accents and an 8GB model styled in glossy black with red accents - with pricing at $179.99 and $199.99, respectively.
It's tough to get a feel for the products without going hands on, but judging by Creative's provided images, these are surely contenders for the ugliest pocket camcorders ever conceived. We'd opt for Kodak's Zi8 based on looks alone.
There's no mention of UK availability just yet, and Creative hasn't mentioned any other changes. We presume, then, that the second-gen Vado HD still records 720p video 30 frames per second.
