Thanks to the likes of the Creative Vado and the Flip UltraHD, pocket camcorders tailored for capturing YouTube-like footage have become increasingly popular.
Not wanting to miss out, Samsung has today announced its arrival in the market with the HMX-U10, a full-HD digital camcorder that measures just 56mm x 103mm x 15.5mm and weighs only 95g.
The camera, pictured above, can capture video at a full-HD 1,920x1,080 resolution and features a 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor that can capture digital stills at 10 megapixels. All that in a pretty smooth and sleek looking body, too.
Samsung's shipping the HMX-U10 with its intelli-studio software built in, allowing for users to edit their footage without the need for a PC. Also part of the software is a one-touch upload button - that'll ensure your movies are on YouTube within minutes.
Not a bad looking portable camera, but it doesn't seem though it'll alleviate the two real quirks with pocket shooters - we've found them to be generally terrible in low-light conditions, and you'll need a super-steady grip (or a tripod) to prevent being dazed by motion blur.
Samsung expects the HMX-U10 to hit stores in September with a price tag of around $200. Intrigued about the prospect of a pocketable HD camcorder? Stay tuned for our upcoming review of the Flip UltraHD.
