Window shopping
Samsung Mobile and retailer Carphone Warehouse have launched a novel interactive window display today to promote the Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition mobile phone handset.
The Oxford Street/Tottenham Court Road store already has one as featured in the photo and video below. It's a 46 inch LCD that confers touch-screen capability through the shop window.
It looks like the point of the exercise is to demonstrate the iPhone-like gesture driven interface but, rather unsettlingly, Samsung claims the display "...will constantly look for users in front of the system and then will encourage them to interact." What next, robot arms that hold you in place until you sign on the dotted line?
"We're proud to be the first mobile phone manufacturer to bring this unique product experience to the high street; increasing footfall, driving sales and demonstrating true leadership," said Mark Mitchinson, VP of Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland.
