Remember the ZOTAC NITRO? Launched back in August '08 and dubbed the world's first hardware-overclocking controller, it arrived with the promise of dynamic overclocking at the touch of a button.
It's so easy to use, I'm certain my Gran could get a few extra frames per second from most GPUs. Trouble is, NITRO is priced at around £90 - enough to take a considerable chunk out of Gran's allowance - and making matters worse, it launched with compatibility for only ZOTAC-branded GeForce graphics cards.
Fortunately, the latter problem is no longer a concern as ZOTAC has today announced that it's opening up NITRO for use with any GeForce-based card, regardless of brand. Either ZOTAC is feeling very generous, or it might just be struggling to shift these units.
In order to get NITRO up and running with a GeForce 8-series-or-above card, all you need to do is download the latest version of ZOTAC's FireStorm software - v1.015 to be precise.
Now, if only they'd do something about that asking price...
