80 new stores to open nationwide
GAME Group, Europe's leading specialist retailer of computer software and video games, today revealed that their profits for the year ending January 2007 have increased by £5.4 million, bringing their yearly profit before tax to £29.5m. The sales of next-gen software alongside sales of the DS and PSP have been a huge factor in the increase; GAME are to further capitilise on this new era of gaming from the sale of Sony's Playstation 3, which went on sale in March.
In fact, GAME has already confirmed that sales in the 12 weeks leading up to April has seen a 44% increase in sales, a figure which they say has been helped substantially by the introduction of the PS3.
The Chairman of GAME, Peter Lewis commented, "The initial strong sell of PS3 was followed by more normal levels of sales in subsequent weeks. Given the underlying trends and the clearer picture now emerging about PS3 performance, we expect to continue to build on our success throughout the year."
The company is now planning to open another 80 stores across the UK.
