PRESS RELEASE

Eurocom Corporation (www.eurocom.com), a leading developer of long lifespan, fully upgradable notebooks, high performance mobile workstations and mobile servers offers professional caliber Storage solutions to fit any professional requirement, from RAID 0/1/5/10, Solid State Storage Drives, and Hard Disk Drives and up to 4TB of storage with four storage drives.

Eurocom prides itself on offering services and technology for the most demanding users and allowing them to build exactly the system they desire.  Offering RAID technology with multiple storage drives in Eurocom Mobile Workstations is simply another avenue to offer customers exactly what they want in a Mobile Computing system.

RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Disks and is a term for data storage strategies that can spread or multiply data across the storage drives.  The different levels of RAID provide differences in data reliability and input/output performance.  There are many different levels of RAID which offer different levels of redundancy and performance.

RAID contributes greatly to systems redundancy and performance, which is why Eurocom has offered RAID 0/1/5/10 for over ten years.  RAID for redundancy can be especially important for engineering and mission critical tasks where the loss of data can be an insurmountable barrier.  RAIDing storage drives is a must in Eurocom Mobile Servers because they can be housing extremely important data, where loss of data is an absolute disaster.

Benefits of RAID Arrays

Data Protection

All RAID levels, except RAID 0, provide some level of data protection, which is the primary reason for most customers to implement RAID.  Data protection refers to the ability of a drive array to withstand the failure of one drive, sometimes more, without any data to be restored from backup.  For users who greatly value their data, RAID for data protection is an absolute necessity.

Performance

RAID systems improve performance by exploiting the capabilities of multiple storage drives in an array.  Different RAID arrays improve performance in different ways but all improve it to a certain extent.  For users looking for improved storage performance finding the corresponding RAID level with multiple storage drive is crucial.

Improved, Integrated Capacity

By taking advantage of a specific RAID array to turn multiple storage drives into a large array, the storage total is added together, thus appearing as if the user has one very large drive instead of multiple smaller drives.  For customers who use very large applications and files, improved and integrated storage capacity is a definite must for smooth operation.

Fault Tolerance

RAID arrays that provide redundancy create a much more reliable storage system then one single drive.  Thus, there is a lower chance of the storage system failing because of a hardware issue.

RAID Levels

Eurocom offers customers RAID 0/1/5/10 options in supporting systems.

RAID 0

Data is distributed across several drives; a minimum of 2 drives is required, in a way that gives improved speed and no lost capacity.  All data on drives is lost if any one drive fails.  Read and write speeds are ‘split' between the drives, causing the speeds to improve depending on how many drives are used.  RAID 0 can save time loading operating systems, large applications, file transfers and so on.

RAID 1

Duplicates data across every disk in the array; providing full redundancy on the two or more drives which are required.  Two or more disks store the exact same data.  Data is not lost as long as one disk survives.  RAID 1 arrays reduce the risk of storage failure as it divides the failure probability by two.  For users who require full redundancy in a two storage drive configuration need to use RAID 1.

RAID 5

Distributes data and parity information across three or more drives.  Fault tolerance is maintained by ensuring that the parity information for any block of data is placed on a drive separate from those storing the data.

RAID 10

Often referred to as RAID 0 + RAID 1.  Provides excellent performance as data is striped as well as excellent redundancy as data is mirrored.   Provides the best option for any mission critical applications. A minimum of four disks is required.

Storage Drives

Eurocom offers many choices between Solid State Storage Drives, Hard Disk and Hybrid Drives.  This enables Eurocom customers to create the best possible storage solution for their needs.
