The low-power, 15W Core i7-4500U is ideal for use in thin or ultra-compact PCs. The same processor is featured in Zotac's Zbox Nano, hence performance in the single-threaded PiFast benchmark is right where we'd expect it to be.

The multi-core Cinebench test tends to separate the premium chips from the mid-range stock. With two cores and four threads, the ET2321's Core i7-4500U offers solid, if not spectacular, results.

Putting CPU performance into perspective, our HandBrake benchmark transcodes a large 4K video clip into an Android tablet-friendly format. The Asus machine manages to encode at 15.5 frames per second, meaning performance is not too dissimilar from a latest-generation Intel NUC.
