Benchmarks: CPU

Our first benchmark - Cinebench - concentrates on the multi-core performance of each system's CPU. Both the Fusion Whisper Mini and Fusion Flash are equipped with the same Intel Core i5-2500K processor, but it's the overclock that sets them apart.

The less-intense overclock may have the Fusion Whisper Mini rooted to the foot of the table, but make no mistake, all the CPUs on show are incredibly quick, and the Core i5-2500K at 4.2GHz is unlikely to disappoint.

Geekbench accesses combined CPU and memory performance, and despite the modest overclock, the Fusion Whisper Mini isn't far off the Fusion Flash.

On the CPU front, Chillblast's Mini PC is more than capable, but while the Intel Core i5-2500K chip helps maintain a responsive feel, the system does lack the advantages of an SSD. It takes over a minute to boot into the Windows 7 desktop, and though we'll cover noise in greater detail later in the review, it's worth noting that the hard-disk is the one component that remains clearly audible.
