Benchmark: ATTO
We're off to a flyer. Samsung's 512GB 840 PRO Series SSD is the first 2.5in drive to eke past 560MB/s in sequential read speed.
But the ATTO benchmark continues to favour SandForce drives for write performance, where on-the-fly compression technology gives the SF-2281 processor an edge in certain scenarios. Nonetheless, Samsung's latest puts in a mighty-strong showing by writing at almost 480MB/s, and it's worth noting that the MDX controller will deliver this speed irrespective of data type; it doesn't rely on compression.
