Benchmark: Crystal Disk Mark
Part of the SandForce SF-2281 controller's magic lies with the capability of the baked-in DuraWrite technology - an on-the-fly compression algorithm that reduces the size of the data written to the drive. But not all data is compressible, and in this benchmark Crystal Disk Mark challenges the Force Series GT with repeated transfers of incompressible data.
The results are mixed, as while the use of synchronous memory puts the £200 Force Series GT ahead of Corsair's own £160 Force Series 3, it isn't enough to close the gab on Patriot's 120GB Wildfire. Despite using the same controller, Patriot's £240 drive features a particular flavour of Toshiba Toggle Mode NAND that's even more adept at handling this particular workload.
