Conclusion

Looking sharp and providing almost-silent running irrespective of load, the £55 supply makes a lot of sense when perusing products for your next mainstream build.

be quiet! understands that it's important to have high-quality PSUs at mainstream wattages. Well-informed enthusiasts know that, with modern PCs, it isn't necessary to splash out hundreds of pound on supplies that are overkill for most people. A 500W model, for example, is plenty powerful enough to run a system equipped with an Intel Core i7-4770K chip and GeForce GTX Titan graphics.

The Pure Power L8 500W is a case in point. Looking sharp and providing almost-silent running irrespective of load, the £55 supply makes a lot of sense when perusing products for your next mainstream build.

The Good

Keen price
Solid efficiency for 80 PLUS Bronze
Looks good

Why is the abbreviation “pc” used instead of the more appropriate “%”? The percentage sign is aptly named and more appealing to the eye which is why everyone else uses it.

It is a good power supply but you didn't mention the warranty included with it… It is 3 years, the same as Corsair, which is 1 year more than other options in the same price range. For me that is a good selling point and worth a mention in the review.
The warranty is three years, as written on the first page.

“The current L8 range, backed by a three-year warranty, encompasses 10 supplies, of which four use modular cable management. Ranging from 300W to 700W, thereby catering for the mainstream, we're taking a look at the mid-pack 500W model, currently retailing at around £55.”
@ Noxvayl - absolutely pointless & incorrect comment.

@ Tarinder - good article, thanks!
Good review, but having short cables is actually a good thing for MATX cases, might consider this simply due to the price…
