HEXUS Verdict:

...a capable PSU at a competitive price, the XFX 850W XXX Edition Semi-Modular (Bronze) is a no-nonsense, no-frills supply that works just as advertised.

XFX's revised mainstream PSUs go by the name of XXX Edition Semi-Modular and range from 650W through to 850W. Based on an established PSU technology and producing solid numbers across the board, we have no qualms regarding the performance of the top-rated 850W model.

The supply also ships with a sensible number of modular cables and there are enough connectors to sate most users' needs. The only question that needs answering in this review, therefore, is whether XFX's supply represents good value for money. It's currently priced at around £90, which is competitive for a semi-modular 850W supply, and it can be recommended to users who are planning a high-end build and want a dependable supply to power the system.

Bottom line: a capable PSU at a competitive price, the XFX 850W XXX Edition Semi-Modular (Bronze) is a no-nonsense, no-frills supply that works just as advertised.

The Good

Excellent ripple numbers
Reasonable price
Decent selection of cables
Rated at ambient 50°C

The Bad

Being ultra-critical, fan is noticeable at high loads

90 quid for a 850w 50 degree rated power supply seems like a good deal to me!
I am liking the idea of a Semi-Modular psu, have the needed cables built in and just add on what you need afterwards though personally my g-card only uses 1 pcie connector so maybe that could be cut back to just 1 6+2.
I can imagine this would make for a very tidy install with enough options to suit any power user.
This kind of seems too good to be true…I hope its not :)
