Paxmate Soundproofing Review

Some people go to great lengths to keep their cases cool the side effect of this is noise produced, especially if Delta fans are used, help maybe at hand with a new product by Akasa, 'PAXMATe' soundproofing.
You get 2 pieces 40x16cm and 2pieces 35x35cm, which is enough for a mini or mid tower case.

Installation

Installation couldn't be easier all you do is peel of the white backing and fix it to the case doors, floor and roof making sure you have it on square as the adhesive is very strong and once in place you will find it very difficult to remove it without tearing the material, to get the full benefit you must apply all the pieces of the mat.

Testing
I tested the soundproofing with 3 of the most popular type of 60mm fans, the Delta, YSTech and the Thermaltake (mounted on a Kanie copper heatsink) and the mat was applied to the doors etc of my Suntek aluminium case.

I first tested it with the Delta fan to get the earache over with and was pleasantly suprised that it had taken the sting out of the noise of the fan and now sounded only slightly noisier than the normal sound of either a YS tech or Thermaltake. The noise of the YSTech and Thermaltake fans is negligble with the mat in place and now allows me to leave my machine on 24/7 for crunching seti units with very little noise.

Conclusion
PAXMATe does make a significant difference to the sound of Delta fans and other fans, and there was no increase in case or cpu temperatures. This is a great product for suppressing the sound of fans and would recommend it.
