Wireless Performance

Our benchmarks begin with a look at wireless throughput and ASRock's G10 is off to a solid start. At Location A - the room directly above the router - the G10 delivers consistent numbers on the 2.4GHz band and shows its performance potential on 5GHz, where it leads the way at 257Mbps downstream (roughly 32MB/s).

Location B - across the ground floor at a distance of roughly 45ft - poses a real challenge to any of the displayed routers. ASRock's G10 manages to maintain reasonable speeds at 2.4GHz but at this range struggles to deliver stability on the 5GHz band.

Location C, on the top floor, puts performance back in line with expectations. All three routers are closely matched on the widely-used 2.4GHz band, but the premium options from ASRock and TP-Link hit higher speeds on 5GHz. There's not a lot in it, mind, and it's fair to say we haven't yet seen enough to warrant the premium over a free-from-the-ISP BT Home Hub 5.
