Colour, Luminance, Power, and FreeSync

Colour uniformity

The uniformity of colour is actually above average, as we see a best-to-worst-case scenario of 2.7 per cent. Any figure below three is solid.

Luminance uniformity

Most monitors tend to fall foul of this test; the iiyama is no exception. The numbers suggest its luminance varies from left to right, up to 10 per cent. We couldn't see obvious differences with the naked eye, mind, and given its relatively small size, you shouldn't either.

That small-ish screen is easy to power, too.

FreeSync observations

We used a Sapphire Radeon RX 570 graphics card in our regular graphics rig and found that it was able to hit close to 75fps in most titles when image quality was dialled all the way up at 1080p. That said, just like the 27in version, we would occasionally see the card fall out of the 48-75Hz FreeSync range when the action became heavy.

The limited range for FreeSync does pose an interesting question: would it be better to ensure a wider range, like Nvidia, and guarantee a solid games-playing experience at the direct expense of cost? We ask this because frustration arises as soon as any game falls out of the minimum 48Hz support refresh rate. If you are going to do FreeSync, do it right, as users who expect to see silky-smooth visuals may well be left flummoxed by a screen such as this.
