System Setup and Notes

We compare the new nForce 680i SLI to nForce 590 SLI Intel Edition (NVIDIA's reference board) to see what's new in terms of performance, and there's also commentary regarding how it compares to P965 and i975X where appropriate.

Notes

The eVGA ran our Core 2 Extreme X6800 at an even 266.6MHz bus frequency, for the full 2933MHz. The usual bits apply here. We ran each benchmark a trio of times, discarding the outer results and reporting the middle one. If any of the three results looked erroneous, we threw all three away until we could collect three within a margin of statistical error. Any major attempts needed to get three reliable results we let you know about, of course. Apart from that, things are as noted on the graphs and in the graph commentary. Want to know more?
