Discussion

ASUS has persisted with modified AMI BIOSes for a while now and the latest incarnation is easy to use and lets you get into the granular settings easily.

The plethora of options means that being able to save a particular setting is a must. ASUS enables this with one two 'O.C. Profiles'.

Voltages are generous for a board outfitted with basic cooling. Remember that you will only see the upper levels if the board-mounted jumpers are set correctly.

AI Tweaker is where most of you will head. The board supports auto-overclocking via what ASUS terms DOCP. Set the speeds manually and there's an array of options to choose from.

DRAM frequency is limited to 1,066MHz with a locked (retail) chip in place. An unlocked chip brings DDR3 2,400MHz options into play.

This is why a BIOS-saving feature is essential on any modern motherboard.

The board might have a cut-price tag for an X58 offering, but the BIOS remains solid.
