...subjectively speaking, it is the most attractive Z270 board we have seen thus far.

MSI is acutely aware that the Z270 chipset is only an upgrade for users coming from much older platforms; the performance difference between it and, say, Z170 is practically non-existent.

This is most likely why MSI has gone big on Intel's newest consumer chipset. The Gaming Pro Carbon improves upon its direct predecessor through enhanced power circuitry, strengthened DIMM slots, an extra M.2 slot, better audio, and, now, having all fan headers of the DC/PWM variety.

There's also faster USB, and RGB lighting that also improves upon the Z170 variant. And, subjectively speaking, it is the most attractive Z270 board we have seen thus far.

The bottom line is simple for this board. Should it come within £20 of its Z170A sibling, it will be a good buy and ideal partner to that Core i7-7700K.
