Benchmarks: CPU
Intel's latest-generation Skylake processors are the only choice for today's best gaming laptops, and the Core i7-6700HQ seems to be the preferred pick of the bunch.
The quad-core CPU delivers excellent performance, be it for gaming or productivity, though PC Specialist's implementation does appear ever-so-slightly off the pace in the demanding Handbrake test. Perusing our log files reveals that the CPU occasionally throttled from 3.1GHz to 2.9GHz, resulting in the minor performance drop-off.
On a related note, we've also discovered that our review sample occasionally appears to stutter. It happens so quickly and so infrequently that it's hard to tell if it's a hardware issue or a one-off glitch, however PC Specialist has been informed and will investigate the issue when the laptop is returned.
