Benchmarks: System

The tests on this page consider overall system performance and provide a good indication of real-world usage scenarios. The PCMark Home benchmark includes workloads such as web-browsing, photo editing and video chat, and the extra CPU performance and quicker memory available to the 2015 ThinkPad give it a 31 per cent performance lead.

What's interesting is the 70 per cent gain in the PCMark Creative benchmark. Taking into account more demanding workloads such as video editing, media transcoding and light gaming, this test taps into the performance of the CPU's integrated graphics, and the newer chip's HD 5500 IGP is a clear step up.

So is the IGP good enough for gaming? a 3DMark Sky Diver score of 2,961 suggests a small amount of potential, but while you can get away with running the likes of DOTA 2 at low resolution with quality settings dialled right down, you won't be doing much more than that.
