Benchmarks: Power Draw and Battery Life

Battery life, clearly, isn't the GT80 Titan SLI's strong suit. The laptop's high-end array of components chew through a fair amount of power, and that, coupled with a small, 75Wh battery, leads to disappointing longevity.

In our battery rundown test, which entails looping a 720p movie clip with 50 per cent screen brightness and all wireless radios disabled, the GT80 managed to keep going for just over two hours. A poor return, and to make matters worse, it took almost three hours (162 minutes) to fully recharge the battery.

There is an alternative, though. Switching the laptop to IGP-only mode (remember this requires a restart) more than doubles battery life. With the Nvidia GPUs disabled, the GT80 was able to keep our battery test going for closer to five hours (294 minutes).
