Benchmarks: Power Draw and Battery Life

With no discrete graphics chip, the GS30 is able to keep both 2D and 3D power consumption down to a reasonable level. That should bode well for battery life, however the four-cell battery did struggle for real-world longevity.

To gauge battery life, we loop a 720p movie clip with 50 per cent screen brightness and all wireless radios disabled. In this scenario, the GS30 succumbs to hibernation in roughly three-and-a-half hours. It's handy being able to recharge the laptop simply by placing it on the dock, but nonetheless, battery life isn't one of the GS30's strengths.
