Quad-core Intel Haswell is the processor of choice for today's high-end gaming laptops. The Aorus X3 Plus packs a Core i7-4860HQ capable of speeds of up to 3.6GHz, making it technically the quickest chip on show.

The maximum Turbo Boost frequency is highlighted in the single-threaded PiFast benchmark, where the 13.9in machine comes out on top, but the same system is off the pace in the multi-threaded Cinebench and HandBrake tests. Checking our benchmark logs reveals the reason: the X3 Plus isn't able to keep the chip running at peak speeds in more demanding tests. Toward the end of the HandBrake test, CPU frequency is automatically dialled back to 2.9GHz.
