3DMark

3DMark is the latest version of this hugely-popular synthetic benchmark. Making use of DX11 features such as tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading, it provides modern-day results and is available as a free download.

We start with synthetic 3DMark results and, no surprises, the Asus Strix comes out tops. Though, the performance advantage over the Founders Edition isn't as large as you might have thought. On paper, the Asus boost clock is 12 per cent higher than Nvidia's reference, yet the 3DMark scores have increased by less than five per cent, intimating they're somewhat bound by memory speed.
