Conclusion

...in our estimation one of the best-looking GTX 980 Tis available, and build quality is similarly impressive...

Itching to start the new year with a blazing-fast graphics card? There's a temptation to hang fire a couple of months to see what AMD and Nvidia will have to offer in their next-generation architectures, codenamed Polaris and Pascal, respectively.

But there's no firm indication of how long that wait might be, so if you need top-notch gaming thrills and you need them now, the GeForce GTX 980 Ti remains an enviable choice for enthusiast users.

Nvidia's range-topping GeForce has matured nicely and, seven-and-a-half months after launch, is now available in a dizzying array of flavours from a wide range of partners. Liquid-cooled variants have been introduced at the premium end of this space and for £600 promise a factory overclock and best-in-class cooling performance.

EVGA's GTX 980 Ti Hybrid Gaming ticks those boxes and now comes with a revised shroud that's sleeker and more stylish than last year's design. The result is in our estimation one of the best-looking GTX 980 Tis available, and build quality is similarly impressive, however EVGA has missed a trick with its conservative shipping frequencies and overly aggressive fan profile.

It remains a viable choice for enthusiasts seeking maximum cooling performance in a closed-loop solution, but for most gamers, EVGA's GTX 980 Ti Hybrid Gaming is ultimately noisier than the competition and not quite as fast.

The Good

The Bad
Runs extremely cool at all times
980 Ti remains a hard-hitting GPU
Well suited to ultra-high-res gaming
Three-year warranty

Conservative core overclock
Stock-clocked memory
Noisier than it should be

GOOD for trans-coding video 24hours a day 365 days a year……….while running cool
another great card:)
It would certainly be a better move to wait for the new range of cards. We have been waiting a while now. AMD has been using rebrands of the same cards for at least 3 generations now and Maxwell has been around for at least 3 years too. The Fury showed promise with HBM and HBM2 will be standard. I have big hopes for this next gen from AMD and Nvidia. It's been due for a long time.
I do hope though that we see more cards available with watercooling available with closed loops rather than having to buy all the pump and stuff as well.
