HDR

Non-HDR performance can only be termed reasonable at 1600x1200 and 1920x1200, matching the GeForce 8800 GTS 640 and Radeon X1950 XTX's. Things look a little better at 2560x1600, but the average framerate drops to a level that's just about acceptable. The GeForce 8800 Ultra and GTX cards continue to dominate.

Add in some HDR, something that the Radeon HD 2900 XT should be good at, and both cards produce their best relative performances, easily outpacing the equivalently priced GeForce 8800 GTS 640 and Radeon X1950 XTX. Still, though, the green team's fastest remains just that.
