Overclocking
Three factory-overclocked GeForce GTX 980s just not doing it for you? Not to worry, as there's further headroom available. Using Gigabyte's bundled OC Guru software, we were quickly able to increase base and boost clocks to 1,378MHz and 1,479MHz, respectively. That's an 11 per cent hike in peak speed, and memory was happy to operate at an effective 7,910MHz, representing a 13 per cent gain.
At these speeds, we're getting into 3DMark Hall of Fame territory. Our overclock is mild by enthusiasts' standards, but we suspect adventurous types will be using Gigabyte's WaterForce to break into the top 10. At the time of writing, that would require a 3DMark Ultra score of 12,075.
