4K - Tomb Raider

Homepage: tombraider.com | Publisher: Square Enix | Developer: Crystal Dynamics

The 2013 Tomb Raider reboot has received critical acclaim and, with the aid of Crystal Dynamics' game engine, helps bring Lara Croft to life with stunning character models and believable worlds. We run a 60-second benchmark using the Ultra-quality preset.

Tomb Raider is very easy on the GPUs at 1080p. Increase the load to 4K, without toggling IQ settings, changes the story considerably. This is the only title where the GTX 980 doesn't top the charts. Simple analysis would suggest it's more reliant on texture fillrate than other titles - a scenario where the GTX 980 isn't the strongest, even with a fast core speed helping out.

Yet it can still produce almost all the frames within 33ms.

And isn't overly shabby when considering the slowest frames.
