Overclocking

We know the GTX 650 Ti Boost replicates the clocks of the GTX 660, and we also know that the top-line GK106 GPU overclocks reasonably well. We increased the available power target to 110 per cent (maximum), increased board voltage from 0.95V to 1.062V and then inched up clocks.

The end result is a minimum core frequency of 1,105MHz and memory at an effective 6,608MHz. Yet GPU Boosting cards always run higher, with the sample averaging a core speed of 1,204MHz when playing games.

Input all that into our Far Cry 3 benchmark and GTX 650 Ti Boost OC solidifies its second-place position. The overclock isn't quite enough for it to leapfrog the GTX 660, mind, as it has 25 per cent more compute cores - 960 vs. 768 - to play with.

For those interested, the OC card scores 4,168 in the 3DMark Fire Strike test, up from the default 3,783.
