Benchmark: Power, Temperature and Noise
Sapphire also jacks up the voltage just a smidge - 0.05V - when clocking the card up. Yup, you've got it, its numbers fall midway between the two HD 7900-series Radeons. We don't consider a system-wide power-draw figure of 248W to be high, but the figure is up to 50W - or near-25 per cent - higher than a GTX 660 Ti.
That massive, meaty cooler does an admirable job of keeping the 950MHz core cool under load. The sub-70°C comes as no surprise, frankly, as the HD 7970 variant produces similar numbers.
Tuned to also produce low noise when under the cosh, the card is quieter than either HD 7950/70 reference models. In fact, listening to the large fans spinning fairly slowly it sounds quieter than the reported 38.2dB would suggest.
