Overclocking

One question that's always asked of factory-overclocked cards is how much further can they go?

After injecting a little extra voltage, we were able to ramp up the HD 7870 Vortex II to 1,250MHz on the core and an effective 5,800MHz on memory. These are excellent speeds for a Radeon HD 7870, and though your mileage will vary - no two GPUs are ever the same - PowerColor's card clearly has room to manoeuvre.

The very healthy overclock gets an extra 10 per cent out of the card at 1080p, enabling the HD 7870 Vortex II to leapfrog the GTX 670.
