Overclocking
ASUS's card is impressive in its out-the-box state, but the manufacturer knows that the target market has a tendency to dabble with a bit of overclocking.
Putting our review sample through the paces, we were able to bump up the core clock frequency to 1,205MHz and increase memory speed to a blazing 7,008MHz. A healthy increase on both fronts, but NVIDIA's GPU Boost technology enables the card to go beyond these perceived limits by dynamically raising clock speeds based on characteristics such as temperature and power-draw.
Exactly what speed you'll get depends on a number of factors, but with our overclock in place we found the ASUS card was happily ramping up to 1,309MHz when playing Crysis 2.
At the heightened speed, the ASUS card was able to deliver in excess of 77 frames per second in Crysis 2 at a full-HD resolution with maximum image quality settings.
