The standalone Aliens vs. Predator benchmark uses DX11 features such as hardware tessellation and advanced shadow sampling to draw and animate everyone's favourite xenomorph.

How close is this? Folks who spent Ā£180 on a Radeon HD 5850 in 2009 and don't mind a spot of overclocking will be pleased by the result. 30 months on and the same-priced Radeon HD 7850, run at stock speeds, is barely able to keep a lead. Heck, even the Radeon HD 6850 puts up a good showing. Putting the conjecture hat on, we reckon that AMD's drivers aren't tapping into the HD 7850's potential for this title.
